Baby's First [fill in the blank]

Nate has had a very exciting first few days home. He's had his first bath, his first doctor's appointment, his first burp (that took Grammy's help) and his first trip to Starbucks. Dan and I are having so much fun watching our little guy's personality develop. He just loves to stretch after eating, his faces crack us up-- he's as expressive as his mommy! He especially loves to relax in Daddy's arms, so relaxing in fact that he has his best poops when he's with papa :) Here's Nathaniel relaxing with his dad on our second to last day in the hospital.
We have 3 cribs for baby. 1) the downstairs travel crib whose black and white toile Nate finds fascinating; 2) the cosleeper in our room on which I've put some animal picture cards (we tested this mini-crib in the hall between bedrooms last night to see if that affords us a couple minutes more sleep. Verdict: it did!); and 3) the 'real' crib which seems just way too big for the little guy.
Here's baby the first time we put him in his crib! Nonna laid him down.

Lisa lent us a Secure Sleeper which keeps him from rolling. At this point he's got some incredible back-of-the-neck strength but his head still has a tendency to flop around like a wet noodle. Dan just described playing with a sleeping Nate like playing with Bernie from that classic film Weekend at Bernie's.

Today Dan took me for my first jaunt outside of the house since coming home on Thursday. The pain is still debilitating without the meds, but I was able to walk to the end of the block, pretty proud of myself I must say.

This blog is letting me post a video: pretty cool! Here's Nate on like day 2 or 3. I'm a bit pale and out of it, but you can see how great Nathaniel is!
