NBD: 1 year old

Nate's party yesterday at Edgewood Park was completely awesome. Surrounded by friends and family, Nate celebrated his first bday. The weather was gorgeous and the food turned out pretty good. Birds were the theme, tweet! (unrelated to the incomprehensible popularity of Twitter)

I kept thinking about where we were a year ago, and how a year can go so fast. And how Nate continues to amaze me.

Here's the little devil chomping on some string cheese, biding his time before the cupcakes are revealed. He's wearing a Thing 2 shirt.

Nate looks like he's falling out of Mary's arms sloooooowly. Grammy tries to get Nate's attention with balloons-- the balloons that Lisa saved us with because the ones we had picked up earlier had flown up, up and away at 8am. Oops!

All the kids painted birdhouses, purple was the preferred color. No elbows were thrown.

Megan mixes blue and purple to get a gorgeous shade of periwinkle.

Annie came down from SF to hold her little nephew.

Nate's BFF Anderson was there, nice over the shoulder pose kiddo.

Our pro photographer, thanks Lori!

Kiera was all about the bubbles.

2 Grandmas + 2 Aunts. Check out Grandpa in the background holding Nate while he was talking shop with Adam.

Kellen is Nate's buddy from school. Technically Kellen's in Rollie Pollies and Nate's in Busy Bees but they've kind of combined the classes now. So they get to hang out all the time!

Rupal cracking up at Anaya

Eric poses for his first group soccer pic.

Pretty ladies. Ashley has amazing bow-making skills, click on the pic to see her handiwork! (the bow and the baby :)

The cupcakes finally showed themselves, but poor little Nate might have an egg allergy so he instead indulged on ice cream sandwich. Boy did he love the ice cream part.

mmmmmm ice cream, better than string cheese, better than sweet potato... better than cheerios!

Mommy and Daddy kind of went over board on the party. But hey, he's only one once right? Worth all the trips up the hill to the picnic site for sure.

While the party was winding down and we were cleaning up, Nate manned the stroller, essentially walking it around the back of the picnic area. All the while narrating with yells and babbles. New favorite hobby?

Next year's party: Cancun. Theme: Cinco de Mayo. April 26th is close enough dontcha think? ;)

Looks like it was a great event and that Nate had a fantastic time! We're sorry to have missed it, but you can bet we won't be missing birthday #2 in Cancun! :)
