Nate has been sick for a while now, it's really frustrating. He got a fever on Friday, just minutes before we were to head to Tahoe for Father's day weekend. We were able to get in to see the Dr very quickly and by then of course the fever had gone down and we were given the greenlight to go ahead and take our trip. Little did we know that the traffic was piling up as we headed out the door... 6 hours later, once in Tahoe, Nate spent the weekend with a very up and down fever. And we spent the weekend trying to guess what was wrong: teething? roseola? West Nile? We don't know what it ended up being, but as his immune system was taking a vacation an opportunistic ear infection took hold. So we got some antibiotics to take care of that.
The end game:
We're going to the Dr again today, for the 3rd time. A rash developed to what we thought was the antibiotic, so we switched antibiotics (mom, no comments please) but the rash was still there. Our opinion, and that of the internet community, is that this whole thing is a commonly delayed reaction to the MMR vaccine. Why none of the nurses or Drs mentioned this is beyond me.
How I'm feeling right now:
grrrrrr I'm a mama bear and my cub needs some protection!
This photo is from a trip to the urgent care in May, we're getting used to the sick thing. Thank you, daycare. I never posted the pic, but it encapsulates the feeling of being bandied about like a shuttlecock through Western medicine. We were the last ones to be called, after 10pm, trying to keep our little guy from crawling all over the floor of a germ-infested hospital!!! Clearly Dan's excited to be there.
Happy Father's Day Dan! I love you! Third time's the charm.
Nate, no more sick, we hate to see you sad :(
